What is an O*NET Code ?
The Occupational Information Network(O*NET) program sponsored by the US Department of Labor created the O*NET database with a list of standardized occupation specific descriptions that cater to the US Economy. Each of those occupations is assigned a code to uniquely identify the same, which is called O*NET Code for an occupation. The O*NET codes are closely related to the Standard Occupational Classification(SOC) system. An O*NET-SOC code consists of eight numbers, such as 15-3031.00. The first six digits of an O*NET code correspond to the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code for that occupation. What is an SOC Code ?
The Occupational Employment Survey (OES) uses the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for the collection of wage data. The SOC Code is a number that looks in format XX-XXXX. Example : 15-1134 is SOC Code for Web Developers. You can check the SOC Code on LCA or check BLS DOL website

What is Area Code?
The BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) established Metropolitan Statistical Areas(MSA) and each of them are identified by a four or five-digit Area Code. In some cases, it would be 6 or 7 digit code. You can check details at BLS - MSA Codes
