What is an SOC Code ?
The Occupational Employment Survey (OES) uses the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for the collection of wage data. The SOC Code is a number that looks in format XX-XXXX. Example : 15-1134 is SOC Code for Web Developers. You can check the SOC Code on LCA or check BLS DOL website

What is an O*NET Code ?
The Occupational Information Network(O*NET) program sponsored by the US Department of Labor created the O*NET database with a list of standardized occupation specific descriptions that cater to the US Economy. Each of those occupations is assigned a code to uniquely identify the same, which is called O*NET Code for an occupation. The O*NET codes are closely related to the Standard Occupational Classification(SOC) system. An O*NET-SOC code consists of eight numbers, such as 15-3031.00. The first six digits of an O*NET code correspond to the Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) code for that occupation. The additional two digits in the O*NET code divide the occupation into more specialized groups. Read more at O*NET Code Connector.
